Indianapolis Mini Marathon

The Indianapolis Mini Marathon is considered to be the United States' largest half marathon. The Mini Marathon began in 1977 with 800 runners and has gotten bigger each year.

1977 - Olympic Champion Frank Shorter won in 1:03:56
1978 - Won by Bill Rodgers (who had also won the Boston Marathon) in 1:03.

2004 - Reuban Chebii of Kenya won the race in 1:04:56.

In 2006 the Indianapolis Mini Marathon included 27,644 people who finished the race. 13,309 runners were male and 14,335 were female. The average race time was 2:26:56.
